Skyfall Blue Supports Bell Let’s Talk Day For Mental Health Awareness

According to the 2012 Canadian Community Health Survey – Mental Health, about 3.5 million Canadians (12.6% of the population) met the criteria for a mood disorder during their lifetime. Depression accounted for the majority of cases, with approximately 3.2 million Canadians (11.3%) suffering from this illness. Sadly, the study showed that mood disorders, for both males and females, were highest among youth aged 15 to 24 (8.2%). The facts speak for themselves – mental illness is a growing issue that cannot be ignored.

Bell Let’s Talk has been committed to helping people struggling with mental health problems since September 2010, initiating an open online discussion to offer hope and support to sufferers. Bell Let’s Talk uses a strategy focused on four key pillars: fighting the stigma, improving access to care, supporting world-class research, and leading by example in workplace health. Talking about mental illness can be difficult, so Bell has provided a Let’s Talk Toolkit on their website to give you all the information you need to start meaningful conversations and better spread the word about mental health.

Tomorrow, January 25th, is Bell Let’s Talk Day. On this day, people are encouraged to use social media to talk about mental health. Every possible participation counts because for every tweet, Snapchat, Instagram post, text, or call you make, Bell will donate 5¢ to mental health initiatives. Simply use the hashtag #BellLetsTalk to show your support and help raise money and awareness for mental health programs across the country!
